18th Annual Anishinabek Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament - June 16, 2016

Close to 140 golfers participated in our biggest annual fundraising event of the year; the 18th Annual Anishinabek Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament.

The tournament, where proceeds come directly to the AN7GC and benefit Anishinabek Communities and Citizens, took place at the beautiful Mark O’Meara Course at Grandview Golf Club in Huntsville, Ontario on June 16, 2016.

We picked a great day as the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect for our participants to enjoy a round of golf and fun on one of Canada’s premier and most scenic golf courses. All were treated to exceptional hospitality from arrival with valet bag drop, cart set-up with gifts, complimentary use of the driving range and locker facilities through to a delicious dinner, a chance at some amazing prizes and an opportunity to bid on some great items in our silent auction.

The AN7GC would like to sincerely thank all of the volunteers for their help in making this another successful event! Volunteers included Maija Holla and Katie Anderson from the Westmont Hospitality Group as well as Laura Liberty. Jazmine Glass and Samantha Restoule spent the day taking wonderful photos of the event in addition to helping out tremendously!

We were once again very fortunate to have fantastic special guests attend and participate including Grand Council Chief Patrick Madahbee, Globe and Mail national columnist and author Roy MacGregor, Olympic Gold Medalists Cheryl Pounder and Becky Kellar, NHL Stanley Cup Champion Reggie Leach and Hockey Hall of Fame member Grant Fuhr. Thank you for your support of the event and our charity!

Since 1999 the AN7GC’s Anishinabek Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament has been raising thousands of dollars; all of which is earmarked toward the ‘Grant Programof the AN7GC.

Since its inception, the tournament has raised over $350,000.00 in net proceeds!

The golf tournament is the AN7GC’s most successful fundraising initiative and is funded mainly by a core group of corporate sponsors as well as support through team registrations. Participation in the tournament is open to anyone and everyone.  Our players are treated like ‘golf kings and queens’ for a day!

The golf tournament is a scramble format and there are on-course contests such as longest drive, closest-to-the-pin and straightest drive. The tournament is followed by a dinner reception where participants have the opportunity to meet our celebrity guests and representatives from our corporate sponsors. Following dinner is the announcement of the champions in each division as well as prize distribution.

The Anishinabek Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament would not be a success without the generous financial contributions through our corporate sponsors and supporters. Chi-Miigwetch to our sponsors and supporters!
